I don’t think it was about the website…

I just got back from a weekend in Columbus, Ohio for the National Youth Ministry Conference.  Missy and I were asked to go by our church’s youth leaders to get ideas for the media aspects of the ministry.

I was blown away by how far behind our church is on the media front.  I went to the technical workshops and half the time I didn’t even know what they were talking about.  I’m home now downloading free programs like crazy and trying to do something with them but failing miserably.  I really hope I can figure out some of these things soon so I don’t feel like such an idiot.

I thought I was going to learn how to make a website and do some cool technological stuff for the kids, but I was wrong.  It was about so much more than that.  I learned that I need to be doing more to help these kids.  I’ve been praying that I’d find my niche at our church and I think I’m getting there.  One of the first classes I went to explained that it’s not about having church, it’s about loving others.  I need to do more to love others, help these kids, and hopefully keep them from making the same mistakes I made.  God has bigger plans for me than updating a website.

Will I keep this up?

I plan on blogging a little bit here, hopefully I’ll keep it up and won’t forget.  This will probably be a wild ride since I don’t have a plan yet.  You’ll see some random things going on here from religious commentary, political rants, fitness tips, and who knows what else.  You’ll probably also see pictures of my cute wife and our insane cats.
